    *Summary

    The Accounting Supervisor/Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the District Services Accounting department. This includes supervising and training accounting staff and providing support to the Director of Client Accounting.

    The Manager is responsible for the daily accounting operations and all aspects of providing full cycle accounting services to our approximately 100 community development district clients.

    This includes the preparation, review, and approval of monthly financial statements and applicable annual audit engagements in a timely manner based on established deadlines.

    *Essential Functions

    Manage a team of accounting staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training and feedback.

    Support process improvement initiatives of the Client Accounting division.

    Ensure Internal Controls are properly designed and followed to protect the assets of our District clients.

    Ensure accounting processes are handled in a timely manner to facilitate the preparation of the monthly financial statements.

    Provide support and guidance to accounting staff on complex accounting issues and questions.


    Ensure information is timely provided to the external auditors and questions are answered to ensure timely completion of the District audits.

    Review audit engagements drafts for accuracy and approve them for issuance.

    Ensure reports required by state statute are submitted in a timely manner.

    Ensure monthly financials prepared by Accountants are reviewed prior to distributing to Boards.

    Ensures proper set up for new Districts.

    Correspond via telephone and email with District Board members, as needed, to assist with accounting related matters.

    Maintain open lines of communication with District banking representatives.

    Provide support to Director of Client Accounting, Vice President of Operations, Regional Managers and District Managers.

    Non-essential duties include other job-related duties as assigned.

    *Education

    Bachelors degree in accounting or a related field.

    Minimum of ten (10) years of full cycle accounting experience.

    CPA license a plus (but not required).

    *Experience

    Experience in managing staff in the completion of full cycle accounting.

    Experience managing/leading multiple staff at various levels.

    Experience managing or supervising Public/Governmental audits with experience reviewing audited financial statements is highly preferred.

    Experience using Intacct is preferred.

    Experience with presentations to large groups and/or boards is preferred.

    *Skills

    Knowledge of fund accounting is highly desired.

    Knowledge and ability to communicate expectations and hold employees accountable.

    Knowledge and ability to explain complex accounting issues in a manner understandable to colleagues/clients without an accounting background.


    Knowledge and ability to determine proper accounting treatment for complex transactions and ensure they are properly reflected on the monthly financial statements and in the annual audits, etc.

    Knowledge and ability to make priority decisions, communicate these to staff, and manage tasks to completion.

    Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and training to department staff.

    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    Ability to coordinate/manage multiple projects at the same time.

    Ability to interact and communicate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and customers/clients of all professional levels.

    Demonstrate leadership in maintaining high standards of professional behavior for self and staff.

    Demonstrate organization, attention to detail, problem solving, and creative/independent thinking.


    Willingness to step in and perform whatever task is necessary to meet client expectations and deliver services by the deadline required.

    Pay:
    $75, $80,000.00 per year
