SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Athletic Director, the Athletic Sports Coordinator's primary responsibility is to support all assigned sport programs with Boys & Girls Clubs standards for a safe, fun learning environment.

operations are in place to support BGC Alaska's growth and development.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Planning, scheduling and coordination.
Continually recommend methods to improve assigned sports programs.
Ensure that registration processes for each sport are continually reviewed and modified to provide a professional registration service to all clients.
Schedule & oversee issuance, maintenance, return, storage, & inventory ofequipment/supplies.
Ensure that policies and procedures are followed in reviewing, securing, and scheduling facilities for practices, games, clinics, and tournaments.
Develop, plan, organize, publish, and distribute schedules for practices, games, tournaments, and special events related to assigned sport programs in a timely manner.
Plan and implement player and coach assignments to teams.Manage site coordination:
Open, set up, close, monitor games; make decisions and solve on-site problems in regard to schedule changes, player eligibility, and
player/parent/coach
conduct.
Assure that owned & rented facilities are used according to rules & maintained in good condition.
Observe BGC policies and procedures for recording and reporting incidents, at-risk youth, and suspected child abuse.
Ensure that program services and activities are conducted by qualified staff and program volunteers. Each game, practice or clinic area in use has on-site adult supervision.
OPERATIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide backup coaching support as needed.
Participate in facility emergency response team as necessary.
Assure secure opening & closing of
Athletics/Clubhouse
facility as necessary.
Participate in clubhouse special events/outreach activities as needed.
Assist with clubhouse facility upkeep as needed/requested.
Requirements:
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Experience in coordinating youth sports and events is preferred.Volunteer coordination experience highly desired.
Proven leadership and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrated ability to achieve results through others.
Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of electronic, oral, and written methods.
Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines independently.
Punctual and reliable attendance.
Ability to work evenings or weekends as necessary.
Computer skills with basic MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and database experience.
Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 6 months of hire.
Valid Alaska drivers' license; good driving record; and insured, reliable vehicle.
Must be able to pass criminal records check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, sit, stand, utilize fine and gross motor manipulation, and climbing ramps, stairs and/or into planes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily a normal internal work environment. Performing the duties of this job may include activities hosted outdoors in various weather conditions. Noise levels for activities in the Club environment may be loud.
The position will include regular local travel to Clubs in the Anchorage and other designation sporting venues.
Work during evenings and weekends will occasionally be required, given the nature of the position and its connection with community partners.
