    Embryologist III_ OU Health

    Job Description:

    General Description: Participates in the daily activities of the Embryo Culture Lab

    Essential Responsibilities:

    Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.
    • Performs Embryo Culture Lab services involving highly complex procedures in the manipulation, micromanipulation and preparation of human gametes and embryos.
    • Identifies oocytes and assesses their quality.
    • Manipulates oocytes for insemination.
    • Manipulates embryos for transfer, cryopreservation and/or thaw.
    • Isolates sperm from semen, epididymis and testicular tissue for in vitro fertilization and microinjection.
    • Assists the Laboratory Director in ensuring optimal, cost-effective delivery of Embryo Culture Lab services.
    • Prepares and analyzes serum for immunoassay (on weekend rotation only).
    • Performs semen analysis, including Kruger strict morphology.
    • Prepares sperm for IUI (on weekend rotation only).
    • Maintains statistics regarding embryology procedures, success rate, and IVF data base.
    • Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, updates current procedures and protocols and participates in proficiency testing and the establishment of good laboratory practices.
    General Responsibilities:
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor's degree in a biological or physical science, Medical Technology or other health-related field.

    Experience: 3 years of experience working in an InVitro Fertilization laboratory.

    OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

    Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: None

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledge and skill in the techniques used in the andrology/endocrinology laboratory.
    • Knowledge of ART laboratory techniques including embryo culture, micromanipulation techniques, embryo assessment/grading, cryopreservation of embryos and gametes and embryo transfer.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office tools.
