    Description

    Assist the Cultural Resources Manager maintain the cultural resources programs for the Nellis installations to perform and sustain required inventories, recovery, and development of programs designed to protect historic and cultural resources on the military-owned and withdrawn property.

    The Cultural Resources Manger ensures that all Federal, Tribal, State and local environmental laws and regulations are met so the mission is not compromised.


    Responsibilities:

    • Support the Cultural Resources Manager with the Compliance Subprogram and ensures stipulations of federal law are met
    • Assist in establishing and maintaining control for the evaluation, protection, and reservation of archaeological, historical, and cultural resources where the existence of the resources may be threatened.
    • Provide consultation and advisory services to support Native American Programs.
    • Assist the Cultural Resources Manager manage direction of the Native American Interaction Programs working with tribes with ancestral ties to Nellis AFB and associated ranges.
    • Assist with execution of projects to ensure conformance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
    • Develop and deliver briefings and training, research presentation, educational documentation and any other media presentations to promote/increase awareness for the Cultural Resources Programs/Native American documents.
    • Maintain Cultural Resources Program inventories/documentation for Nellis owned property

    Required Skills/Certifications:

    • Bachelors Degree in Archaeology(greatly preferred) if not, then
    • Bachelors Degree in a Science field and 5 years experience in the archeological or related fields
    • 2 years of practical experience or field work Highly Desired Skills/Certifications:
    • Ability to communicate and work effectively in highly diverse work environments
    • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills for handling multiple tasks and activities
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS)
