    JOB TITLE: Building Custodian

    Department: Facilities and Process Control

    DIVISION: Facilities

    Job Summary:

    The Building Custodian position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe environment for building employees and customers at all Buckeye Broadband Buildings and Storefronts. The ideal candidate is detailed-oriented, flexible and willing to take on routine cleaning and special projects as the need arises. The Building Custodian will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, kitchenette's, cafeteria's, call centers and lounge areas.

    The Building Custodian reports directly to the Supervisor, Facilities.

    There are no direct reports to the Building Custodian position.

    This position interfaces with the following key personnel within the Company:

    Janitorial Team

    Coordination of cleaning tasks. Inventory of cleaning supplies and restocking of janitorial closets. Provide backup for team members.

    Facilities staff

    Coordination of information and documentation needed by Facilities staff when repairs are needed.

    Facilities and Process Control Management

    Coordination of information, scheduling, inventory replenishment, record keeping

    Business Employees

    Ad hoc cleaning requests

    Functions:

    The Building Custodian is accountable for:

    • Perform sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, trash removal and additional cleaning functions;
    • Monitor usage rates and replenish supplies and materials;
    • Inspect and ensure all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair;
    • Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs;
    • Follow all safety and sanitation directions and regulations;
    • Ability to lift and manipulate objects and equipment up to 40lbs;
    • Demonstrate proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when needed;
    • An understanding and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external resources to coordinate necessary information and documentation;
    • Working closely with other team members utilizing personal skills, traits and achievements thereby providing the company and its customers with the best possible outcome;
    • Providing and displaying a positive outlook and a willingness to assist others, along with possessing and displaying a high level of cooperation and teamwork;

    • Performing any other departmental duties as assigned.
    Job Requirements:

    Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent - Required
    • One or more years of related work experience - Preferred
    • Able to accomplish training sessions with goal of cleaning certificates of achievement - Required
    • Basic math skills to restock and inventory cleaning chemicals - Required
    • Available to work multiple shifts as required; primary shift will be second - Required

    Working Environment:
    • The Building Custodian position is a full-time, non-exempt position working 40 hours per week, and overtime as needed as assigned by the supervisor. The Building Custodian will be working an 8-hour shift, Monday-Saturday (Sunday's if needed) as part of a team to clean and maintain offices and storefront sites.
    • Willingness to work early morning or late-night shifts.
    • This position may report to either 2700 Oregon Rd., Northwood, OH 43619 or 4818 Angola Rd, Toledo, OH 43615 depending upon the assignment.
    • Frequent travel between Buckeye Broadband stores at:
    • 4111 Talmadge, Toledo, OH
    • 3050 Navarre, Oregon, OH
    • 26611 N. Dixie Hwy, Perrysburg, OH
    • 6760 Airport Hwy, Holland, OH
    • This position drives for company business in company provided vehicle in performance of assigned duties. This position will be subject to periodic records checks and will be required to supply written approval upon request.

    PhysicaL:

    Standing, walking, walking upstairs, bending over, hearing, vision (close, distant, color, depth perception, adjust focus), driving, talking, and use of hands and fingers (grasp, hold, pick-up, rotate, etc.).

    Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects up to 30 pounds as needed, such as cleaning equipment and cleaning stock.
