    Introduction to the team

    Within TSG, the State & Local Tax Credits & Incentives team helps clients compete and succeed by staying up-to-date on the ever-changing, complex federal and state and local tax rules as they relate to credits and incentives.

    Responsibilities :

    Conduct research and writing related transferable tax credits on the state and federal level
    Participate in negotiations and transactions for transferable tax credits
    Calculate federal disaster zone, employer paid leave and related state and federal hiring based tax credits
    Participate in negotiations for state and local incentives
    Conduct research and writing for location based credits and incentives
    Complete requisite documentation for credits and incentives compliance purposes
    Participate in business development activities as needed
    Develop internal relationships within the firm and help grow external branding
    Qualifications :

    Bachelor's degree required, with an emphasis in Accounting, Business or related field preferred
    Master's degree in Taxation and/or JD with LLM in Tax preferred
    Minimum of 2 years of related tax experience required; public accounting experience preferred
    CPA, bar membership or equivalent credential preferred. If not certified, must meet educational requirements to obtain license upon hire in state of employment
    Prior experience with state or federal credits and incentives programs preferred
    Previous experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on state and local tax issues preferred
    Experience with multi-state income, sales/use, gross receipts, property, employment or other miscellaneous state and local taxes preferred
    Critical thinking and problem solving skills
    Excellent internal and external client service skills
    Strong tax research skills
    Strong written and verbal communication
    Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently
    Ability to handle multiple priorities, tasks and simultaneous projects
    Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
