*The Functional Safety Manager, as part of the Functional Safety Competency, is integral to assuring that the product is able to meet the targeted ISO 26262 ASIL level. This role gives the opportunity to work in electrification, part of the growing market in Electric Vehicles. This is a global role, allowing the chance to collaborate with a cross-functional team on multiple continents.
*In BorgWarner, Functional Safety is a growing area that will allow for individual growth and creativity. This assignment offers the chance to participate across Business Units, encouraging a OneBorgWarner approach to Functional Safety.
Key responsibilities
* *Responsible for the planning and coordination of the safety activities in which the organization is involved** *Responsible for maintaining the safety plan, and for monitoring the progress of the safety activities against the safety plan.
* *Communicating the responsibilities with regard to performing the safety activities within the organization** *Scheduling the confirmation measures** *Communicating safety anomalies to BorgWarner management and to the customer and participate in development of the remedy** *Report the risk and status of the project during design and gate reviews** *Sign off on change requests during the development process** *Developing the safety case, in accordance with the safety plan, in order to provide the argument for the achievement of functional safety** *Providing evidence of safety training of the team involved in the project** *Provide verification of work products as necessary** *Recommend judgement for the release for production to Global Functional Safety Manager** *Live and communicate the BorgWarner Safety Culture at all times*
What were looking for
* *4 year engineering degree (prefer EE or SW)
* *5 years relevant work experience required, in product development (ideally in automotive related products); however, preference will be given to those with 8+ years experience** *Experience with ISO 26262, specifically parts 4-6** *Familiarity with ASPICE** *Experience with Product Development Life Cycle** *Ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management, customers, and suppliers** *Strong technical leadership, planning, and organizational skills** *Strong analytic and problem-solving skills** *Capable of multi-tasking complex projects while maintaining customer timeframes*
