![Default job background](https://contents.bebee.com/public/img/bg-user-ex-1.jpg)
Description
LEAH Labs is a biotechnology startup building gene edited therapeutic products to advance pet and human health. We're funded by the notorious accelerator Y Combinator, angel and seed investors, and state and federal grants, including NSF and NIH SBIRs. We're founded by expert gene editors, translational medicine scientists, and CAR-T cell therapy pioneers. Our world-class, virus-free gene targeting technology platform, GeneWeld, unlocks our ability to design, build, and test novel cell therapies unlike anyone else, and to translate those discoveries into living therapies for dogs first, and people next.
The summary:
LEAH Labs is seeking a seasoned Research Technician to work with our growing team and advance LEAH Labs' laboratory and clinical objectives. The Research Technician will have regular access to our world-class Scientific Founders with deep expertise in T cell therapies, genome engineering, translational medicine, and veterinary science. In the spirit of a lean startup culture, the candidate need not have all the listed skills so long as they have a willingness to learn as LEAH grows. Aspects of this position include: daily cell culture maintenance, flow cytometry, gene editing analysis, clinical sample analysis, innovative problem solving, data accumulation, and data presentation. A successful candidate will leverage their curiosity and attention to detail to assist in the advancement of our cell engineering technologies and analysis of clinical samples.
What you will do:
• Assist with cell culture maintenance
• Assist in cell engineering pipelines using in-house gene editing platforms
• General lab duties, including ordering, inventory, and management of reagents
• Receive, create, analyze, and bank laboratory and clinical samples with the rigor of federal regulations
• Create and follow SOPs for molecular biology workflows
• Maintain detailed experimental records
How you will grow:
Within 1 month: You will understand our company vision and you will be learning our current standard workflows.
Within 3 months: You will be working independently on tasks given to you, and you will be proficient in our workflows while working to make them better.
Within 12 months: You will be proficient in how to design and run gene editing experiments in primary human cell types and cell lines. You will have aided in the data package that is used by leadership to raise our next round of funding and win our next grant(s).
Throughout the year: You will be working with leadership to craft data presentations, investor memos, and regulatory filings. You will be learning the ins and outs of biotech startups, including fundraising, grant writing, business development, scientific milestone planning and execution, regulatory filings, and commercialization.
What you must bring:
• Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, genetics, or a related discipline
• >2-years combined experience in academic research labs and/or biotech industry and/or biotech startups
• Strong work ethic and teamwork skills, likely learned from your time playing organized sports
• Strong analytical skills
• Exceptional lab notebook skills
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and/or experience with Graphpad Prism software
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, lean-startup environment
What you might have:
• Basic molecular biology techniques including cloning, nucleic acid purification, mRNA synthesis, and bacterial culture
• Experience with primary cell culture
• Experience with cell isolation and flow cytometry techniques
• Basic understanding of gene editing technologies like CRISPR
• Familiarity with R programming
• Familiarity with NGS/sequencing library preparation and analysis, and other genomic platforms
The bottom line:
• Competitive salary commensurate with experience and credentials
• Potential to participate in company's equity compensation plan
• Generous PTO, paid holidays, and 100% health care benefits
A final note:
"If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life" – cliché, right? Maybe, but our founders live this motto. If you're looking for a "job", LEAH Labs probably isn't for you.

If the above sounds like you, and you're willing to jump into a fast-paced startup environment with a growing team of exceptional scientists, please apply on LinkedIn or send an email with your C.V. and a few words on why you're a good fit to
