    We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kitchen Manager to oversee all aspects of our kitchen operations at the Lighthouse (National City Navigation Center). The Kitchen Manager will ensure the preparation and service of nutritious meals, aligning with health regulations and our mission to nourish both body and spirit. Reporting directly to the Lighthouse Director and collaborating closely with the Food Service Director, this role is pivotal in supporting our community through exceptional food service.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Meal Planning and Preparation:
      • Design and execute meal plans for regular services, special events, and outreach programs, considering dietary needs and budget.
      • Ensure high standards of meal presentation.
    • Kitchen Staff Supervision:
      • Recruit, train, and manage kitchen staff and volunteers, ensuring a collaborative and supportive work environment.
      • Schedule shifts and oversee staff performance to maintain efficiency and compliance with food safety standards.
    • Inventory Management:
      • Manage ordering and inventory of food supplies and kitchen equipment, negotiating with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
      • Perform regular inventory audits to optimize costs and minimize waste.
    • Kitchen Safety and Compliance:
      • Uphold stringent health and safety standards in kitchen operations, maintaining cleanliness and organization.
      • Continually update procedures and protocols to comply with local health department regulations.
    • Budget Management:
      • Develop and oversee the kitchen budget, monitoring expenditures and implementing necessary adjustments to remain within financial constraints.
    • Community and Faith Integration:
      • Embed faith-based principles within kitchen operations and staff management, actively supporting the mission through participation in community services.
    • Reporting:
      • Compile and present detailed reports on kitchen operations, budget performance, and staff productivity.
      • Participate in management meetings to provide updates and gather feedback.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in kitchen management or a similar role in a high-volume environment.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and handling procedures.
    • Strong leadership skills with excellent ability to manage and motivate teams.
    • Ability to work effectively in a faith-based and collaborative environment.
    • High level of compassion and a steadfast commitment to service.

    Preferred:

    • Culinary certification or relevant degree.
    • Previous experience in a non-profit or religious setting.
    • Familiarity with dietary restrictions prevalent in the community served.
