    Columbus State University has an opening for an Accounting Assistant in the Accounting Services Department. The position will perform general accounting functions requiring the exercise of initiative and independent judgment based on knowledge of the organization, functions, policies and procedures.



    The position will require a considerable amount of data entry for transactions and will be responsible for a high volume of customer interaction providing services offered through the department. The successful candidate's duties include but are not limited to: Examines, codes, verifies, balances, and reconciles various kinds of transactions, listings, invoices, vouchers, and purchase orders.; Maintains accounting records of purchase orders, completion copies, and invoices.; Audits travel expense statements and supporting documents.; Maintains spreadsheets and/or other related files for vendors.; Examines travel applications for proper accounting distribution.; Prepares vouchers for purchase requests, check requests, travel reimbursement.



    Minimum qualifications include an Associate's degree in an accounting related field and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.; Working knowledge of PeopleSoft is a plus.



    Experience in PeopleSoft Financials or other related higher education software is preferred.



    The annualized salary range for this position is $31,882 to $34,493 and includes full benefits.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include: Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records and generate reports.; Knowledge of bookkeeping practices.; Knowledge of purchasing, invoicing, and accounts payable.; Knowledge of local, state, and federal policies and procedures.; Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office software.; Experience in PeopleSoft Financials or other related higher education software is preferred.; Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely in person and/or on the telephone, exercising tact, patience, discretion and professional demeanor.; Ability to work accurately with attention to detail, handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
