    ## About the Role


    Join our Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), as part of the Uber Finance team, geared toward individuals with a passion and interest in pursuing a career in Accounting and looking to gain hands-on experience this Summer.

    In this role, you'll work on various projects, streamline processes, and become a subject-matter authority in revenue accounting.


    The internship will kick-start your career at Uber by learning first-hand from business partners while being exposed to the scale of a global technology company.

    You'll work in a team-based environment and receive mentorship and support from expert professionals.

    The program is based out of our Dallas, Texas, office.

    ## What You'll Do


    • Assist with the preparation of financial documents, general ledger entries, and other accounting functions.
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights to management.
    • Support key projects, including business acquisitions, integrations, divestitures, and systems implementations.
    • Improve existing processes and controls, perform and maintain assigned internal controls.
    • Develop a strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
    • Collaborate with key cross-functional partners including finance, engineering, and internal audit on a variety of projects.
    • Analyze outstanding purchase orders and assess accrual entries needed.
    • Assess open purchase orders for accruals.
    • Support cost allocation execution and analysis.
    ## Basic Qualifications


    • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree, with a major in accounting or other related fields, with an anticipated graduation between December 2024 and December 2025.
    • Currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Uber does not intend to sponsor work visas with respect to this position or to provide this position as F-1, OPT or CPT
    • Basic knowledge of GAAP and experience with excel.
    ## Preferred Qualifications


    • A minimum of one internship program or part-time work experience in a related field.
    • International accounting expertise: Understanding of fundamental accounting concepts, tax principles, and reporting requirements in an international environment.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and propose solutions.
    • Business partnering skills: Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and effectively communicating financial information to stakeholders.
    • Process improvement mindset: Ability to recommend and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes.
    • Independent worker: Demonstrated capability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and prioritize work effectively in a dynamic environment.
    • System implementation experience: Familiarity with system implementations or upgrades related to accounting functions.
    • Proficiency in financial software: Knowledge of accounting software systems, such as Oracle R12, SAP, and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), is considered a plus.
    • Advanced Excel skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use advanced functions for financial analysis.
    • Knowledge of lease accounting under ASC 842.
    ## About the Team


    The Accounting operations team at Uber is responsible for ensuring all expenses and allocations are recorded in accordance with US GAAP.

    In addition to producing accurate financials, the team also partners with cross functional stakeholders including Finance, Financial Risk Management, Regional Operations, Procure to Pay, as well as the external audit for the consolidated group audit as well as the ever-growing list of local statutory audits.
