    Description

Colby College's Creative Writing Program is accepting applications for a Narrative Nonfiction writer for the Spring 2025 Jennifer Jahrling Forese Residency.

Colby College's Jennifer Jahrling Forese Residency is a semester-long opportunity for a writer to work on a new project while contributing to Colby's thriving literary community.

The Program is seeking a narrative nonfiction writer for Spring 2025. We encourage writers working in various narrative nonfiction forms-longform journalism, essays, digital storytelling, autotheory, etc.-to apply.

Duties include teaching one class designed by the resident(s) in consultation with Program faculty; giving one public presentation of work-in-progress and one public lecture or workshop to a general audience; scheduling office hours; working with selected students one-on-one; and interacting with the broader Waterville community.

In addition to a generous honorarium, Colby provides the writer-in-residence with housing in downtown Waterville and a stipend for expenses.

    Qualifications

An MFA, terminal degree in a related field, or professional experience equivalent to a terminal degree; at least one published book or significant publication record; and experience teaching at the undergraduate level.

We are committed to actively building a workplace that benefits from authentically multicultural, multiethnic, multiclass, and gender-inclusive approaches to teaching and learning.

Candidates from historically marginalized communities and backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

To apply, submit a cover letter, CV, detailed description of the proposed undergraduate course, a writing sample of no more than twenty pages, and two confidential letters of reference.
