    Job Description


    The Director of Clinical Operations and Nursing assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for overseeing clinical operations and nursing within the organization.

    Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants and organizations to develop, support, coordinate care and represent the interests of the organization.

    In addition, this position, in conjunction with the CMO is responsible for the adherence of medical policies and procedures by the clinical staff, quality

    improvement/quality

    assurance as well as clinical administrative duties such as scheduling, monitors provider open encounters and management reporting.


    Specific Duties and Responsibilities:


    Develops, maintains, and implements policies and procedures that conform to current standards of practice, and facility and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.


    Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to the staff and monitors staff practices and implementation.


    Leads, and evaluates the nursing team.


    Evaluates the work performance of the clinical support staff and implements discipline according to operational policies.


    Provides feedback to the Chief Medical Officer concerning administrative work performance by Providers.


    Monitors staff for compliance with OSHA mandates and facility policies on workplace safety.


    Participates in the recruitment and selection of personnel as appropriate.


    Participates in the health center's quality

    assessment/improvement

    activities and performs duties in accordance with applicable standards.


    Demonstrates knowledge of and application of Quality Indicators and monitors and implements systems to achieve appropriate outcomes.


    Promotes customer service and responds to and adequately resolves complaints or concerns from patients or families about services.


    Works in collaboration with Corporate Compliance for FTCA Claims Management


    Monitors and investigates the organization's risk


    management occurrences as it relates to clinical operations and promptly reports such occurrences to the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Medical Officer.


    Promotes compliance with accident prevention, safety rules, and safe work practices to prevent employee injury and illness.


    Demonstrates ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.



    Along with Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Operating Officer, ensures that core clinical operating processes standards and goals are being met.


    Oversee the Vaccines for Children program (VFC) and help with program coordination.


    Vaccine outreach event coordination.


    Assess and develop clinical skills for the clinical support staff including nurses, MAs, CNAs.


    Lead meetings with the clinical staff.


    Annual performance evaluations and skills competencies for nursing staff.


    Any other tasks as indicated by the CMO.


    Reporting Relationships :

    The Director of Nursing and Clinical Operations reports to and is supervised by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).


    Evaluation:

    The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

    The evaluation will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitudes and general working behavior.


    Qualifications:

    Licensure of practice as a Registered Nurse.


    Current South Carolina License.


    Strong outpatient medicine knowledge and experience is required.


    Prior FQHC experience preferred.


    Experience with the VFC program preferred.


    Strong understanding of clinical operations required.


    Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities.


    Strong project management skills.


    Ability to relate with warmth and effectiveness to the patients, families, nurses/MAs/CNAs, and Providers of the health center.


    Ability to work and influence across the organization.


    Training and CME's focused on keeping required licenses and designations.


    Must be qualified in Basic Life Support.


    Education:

    Registered Nurse, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent experience
