    Position Overview:

    The Telecommunications Technician 2 is responsible for the installation and assisting with the Planning & Layout of communications cabling and equipment in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.

    As a technician, you should have prior knowledge & experience with installing basic equipment involving hand tools and power tools, a foundational understanding of Telecom Systems, blueprints, and knowledge of codes and standards.

    In this role, you will need to have a solid understanding & knowledge of Telecommunication Systems including OSP & ISP Copper, CCTV, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), Fiber Optic & Structured Cabling. Additionally, each technician must strive to become a qualified BICSI Technician.



    Core Market Sector:

    The potential candidate must have hands-on experience & knowledge in Low-Voltage specialty contracting industries, solution-focused initiatives & overall leadership for field-project teams.

    This candidate will be accountable for supporting intricate scopes particular to Healthcare, Government, Higher-Education, Federal Aviation (Preferred), & Mission Critical industries.


    Position Requirements:
    • Field experience specific to the Installation, Termination & Testing of Structured Cabling Plants within Commercial Construction industries.
    • Utilizing Hand & Power Tools safely, following all Safety Regulations & Procedures.
    • Surveying and documenting existing telecommunications infrastructure including Copper & Fiber Cables, both active & passive components using electronic devices.
    • Sketching Rack, Floor & Wall Elevations.
    • Experience with Terminating, Testing & Troubleshooting of Horizontal Copper (Cat 5, Cat 6).
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Installation, Inspection, Terminating, Testing and Troubleshooting of ISP/OSP Telecommunications Systems (Fiber Optics, Category 5, 6, 6A & Associated Equipment).

    Including:
    • Various pathways and CableTray
    • Various Cabinet and Racks
    • VariousTelecommunicationsDevices
    • Prefabricated Components and Assemblies
    • Telecommunications Grounding Systems

    • Ability to lead a project-team of 10+, and operate independently while supporting a Communications Superintendent.
    • Previous experience in leading, training & supervising Junior-Technicians & Apprentices in a team environment.
    • Leading the installation of cable from Telecommunications Rooms (TR) to work area outlets (WAO) while following directions & ensuring cables are installed methodically & arranged in proper bundles at TR for ease of dressing & termination.
    • Full set of Tools required prior to the first day of employment to perform the role.
    • Proficiency in Terminations of Fiber & Cable listed below:...Copper), Plywood & Racks, Cable Trays (TC, MDF & IDF), OSP & ISP, along with Site Grounding.

    Position Responsibilities:
    • Leading project teams on small, moderately complex telecommunications installations & maintenance projects.
    • Oversight & lead Junior employees in the Installation, Termination & Testing of structured & fiber optic cabling.
    • Daily on-site presence, with the ability to pull cables as necessary without assistance.
    • Conducting toolbox talks & documenting them daily.
    • Inspecting, evaluating & tracking inventory as required throughout the project.
    • Reading & understanding plans, specifications & blueprints on each project phase.
    • Mentoring junior staff on-site for continuous growth & technical knowledge.

    Education, Experience & Technical Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma OR GED
    • Minimum 4+ years of Telecommunications experience
    • Minimum 2+ years of experience in complex markets
    • Demonstrated ability to read plans and specifications
    • Strong communication, time management & organization skills
    • Reliability, teamwork & safety consciousness
    • Basic tools required
    • Ability to obtain security clearance if needed

    Desired Qualifications:
    • Active Security Clearance
    • Valid Passport
    • BICSI credentials
    • Manufacturer Certifications and/or Fiber Certification
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Applications
