    Assistant Professor of Professional Practice

    The University of Miami is a private research-intensive institution with over 15,000 students located in suburban Coral Gables just minutes away from downtown Miami. The University's 12 colleges and schools offer degrees in 150 undergraduate, 130 masters, and 60 doctoral areas of study. The School of Education and Human Development at the University of Miami houses three academic departments: Teaching and Learning, Educational and Psychological Studies, and Kinesiology and Sport Sciences.

    Position Description

    The position is a nine-month assistant professor of professional practice (non-tenure track) position beginning August 15, 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in human performance and movement science as well as assist in student recruitment. Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of anatomy, applied physiology, and have a mastery of evidence-based strategies for sports performance and health. Courses will include but not be limited to applied content areas in: a) strength and conditioning, b) advanced exercise programming, c) exercise physiology/sports nutrition and d) facility development/utilization. Faculty are expected to work in accordance with National Strength and Conditioning Association Education Recognition Program guidelines and maintain Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs accreditation. They will also have the opportunity to work with the University of Miami Athletics Department in facility management and utilization and strengthen program development and collaborative work experiences. The candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring). Interest and experience in working with others on research, team intiatives, and educational activities within the department and across disciplines is preferred.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. with emphasis in one of the following areas: Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field.
    • Two years of graduate level teaching experience.
    • Two years of strength and conditioning experience.
    • NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist preferred.
    • Must provide employment eligibility verification as required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
    Salary

    Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
