    Description

    The Facility Maintenance position entails overseeing the overall condition of the facility to ensure its safety and functionality. This individual will promptly address any identified issues and oversee their resolution.

    Reports To:

    Shop Manager

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain the building and grounds to comply with local, state, and federal regulations regarding waste treatment, resource conservation, and other environmental concerns.
    • Coordinate the maintenance of facility-owned vehicles and shop equipment.
    • Direct maintenance activities for utility systems to ensure continuous operation.
    • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance staff to develop preventive maintenance programs.
    • Procure necessary tools, equipment, and supplies for maintenance operations.
    • Perform maintenance tasks both inside and outside the building.
    • Engage in minor carpentry projects as needed.
    • Keep work areas and equipment clean, organized, and well-maintained.
    • Fulfill other assigned duties and responsibilities.

    Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills:

    • High school diploma/GED and a minimum of 2 years of related experience required.
    • Class C Boilers License compliant with state regulations (e.g., Northeast Minneapolis).
    • Knowledge of machinery repair and maintenance, including plumbing, HVAC, and basic electrical.
    • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for independent and collaborative work.
    • Possession of a valid driver's license.
    • Basic PC skills in a Windows environment preferred.
    • Experience with forklifts and hoists preferred.
    • Lockout/Tagout certification preferred.

    Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

    • Regularly perform tasks involving bending, squatting, climbing, grasping, reaching, and lifting.
    • Exposure to heights and climbing ladders.
    • Lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly, and occasionally more.
    • Continuous walking, standing, or movement.
    • Exposure to typical machine shop hazards, requiring personal protective equipment such as respiratory protection.
    • Occasional operation of a computer involving sitting, grasping items, and keyboarding.
    • Close vision abilities required for the job.
