    Posting Details Job Title Coordinator of Operations & Aquatics Department RECREATIONAL SPORTS Position Number FP409A Location Norfolk, VA Job Summary The Coordinator of Operations & Aquatics will design, implement, manage, and evaluate the operations and programming of the JC Scrap Chandler pool and the Student Recreation Center. Oversee risk management for the Student Recreation Center (SRC) with specialized training and attention to detail. The responsibilities associated with the position are critically important to the success of the operation of the Recreation and Wellness department and the Student Recreation Center (SRC). The aquatic activities and facilities serve as important components of the college experience for many students, faculty and staff members of the ODU community. This position is responsible for maintaining current certifications and continuing education related to the recreation field. The position is responsible for maintaining relationships with both internal and external stockholders such as ODU Athletics and contracted groups. Position Type FullTime Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum Qualifications A master's degree in Recreation Administration, Higher Education Administration, Sports Management, or related field required; or a Bachelor's degree in the areas previously indicated along with experience equivalent to a master's degree.
  • Current Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR and AED certifications required or ability to acquire within 90 days of employment.
  • Excellent organizational, management, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other individuals and departments on campus and in the surrounding community.
  • Demonstrable computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and/or graphic software programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in aquatics management, facility operations and programming.
  • A strong background in risk assessment and risk management, particularly as it relates to aquatic facility management and activities.
  • Demonstrated experience with American Red Cross water safety programs and educational requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications Some experience in a University or collegiate setting is preferred. Current American Red Cross LGIT and WSIT certifications. Conditions of Employment Given the nature of the positions in Student Engagement & Enrollment Services that provide support to student services and/or student-centered programs, the employee occupying this position may be required to work during a university closing.
  • There may be occasions where the employee will be asked to work during university closings as directed by his or her supervisor. These instances may include working from a remote location (i.e. telework, etc.).
