    Role Summary:

    We are seeking a Lead Financial Analyst to enhance our Financial Reporting team. This pivotal role involves leading statutory and GAAP reporting, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making through meticulous financial analysis. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of financial reporting standards in the insurance industry, exhibit meticulous attention to detail, and commit to excellence in all facets of their work.

    Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for the preparation, analysis, and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for Mutual of America Life Insurance Company and its subsidiaries. This includes:
      • Preparing and reviewing GAAP and statutory financial statements along with related footnote disclosures. This encompasses consolidation and elimination entries, MD&A, and annual and quarterly statutory regulatory and supplemental filings (Bluebook, Greenbook), complete with supporting documentation and regulatory compliance checks.
      • Conducting RBC analysis and addressing other statutory requirements such as liquidity and mortality inquiries.
      • Assisting in maintaining footnote support for annual audited financial statements and all other external reporting.
      • Internal and External Reporting Consistency: Collaborate with the financial reporting team to ensure alignment between internal and external reporting, maintaining consistency and accuracy.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of month-end financial results, identifying and explaining variances in key financial metrics.
      • Work closely with other areas in the Corporate Finance department to understand the drivers behind these fluctuations and provide insightful commentary to management.
      • Ensure the completion of month-end closing tasks within established timelines to support timely decision-making.
    • Lead and assist in the coordination of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of the Financial Reporting department. This includes researching and implementing automation solutions, integrating new financial software systems, and improving data collection and reporting processes.
    • Assist and oversee the coordination of key strategic initiatives for Financial Reporting department, including (but not limited to):
      • Researching and implementing automation solutions to replace manual data entry and report generation tasks, enhancing accuracy and efficiency.
      • Assisting in the integration of new financial software systems that could streamline data collection, reporting, and compliance checks.
      • Assist in establishing and documenting internal controls and procedures to safeguard the integrity of financial data.
      • Develop, standardize and streamline supporting workpapers to enhance reporting processes.
      • Identify opportunities for process improvement, implementing best practices to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
    • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements related to financial reporting, staying updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
    • Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with various departments and leading junior analysts. Mentor and develop team members, promoting a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial reporting within the insurance or financial services industry, with a strong emphasis on statutory and GAAP reporting.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and STAT accounting principles, practices, and regulations specific to the insurance industry.
    • Proficiency in financial reporting systems and software, along with MS Office applications.
    • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
    • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a history of process improvement initiatives.

    The salary range below describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this role. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, whereby total compensation may exceed this range depending on individual and / or company performance.

    Base Salary Range:

    $110,000 - $165,000
