    Job Summary:The Unit Support Assistant plays a crucial role in providing administrative and clerical support to a healthcare unit or department. This position involves a combination of organizational, communication, and customer service skills to ensure the smooth operation of the unit and optimal patient care.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Administrative Support: Perform general clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, data entry, and managing paperwork.
    • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Assist in the preparation and distribution of various documents, reports, and forms.
    • Communication: Serve as a point of contact for inquiries from patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
    • Answer phones, relay messages, and provide information to visitors and staff.
    • Facilitate communication within the unit and between different departments.
    • Patient Assistance: Greet and assist patients and their families, providing a welcoming and supportive environment.
    • Assist in the admission and discharge processes, ensuring proper documentation and coordination.
    • Scheduling: Coordinate appointments, tests, and procedures for patients within the unit.
    • Collaborate with other departments to arrange necessary services for patients.
    • Supply Management: Monitor and replenish unit supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
    • Assist with the inventory management of medical and office supplies.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, and allied health staff, to support daily operations.
    • Collaborate with other unit support assistants and administrative staff to ensure seamless coordination.
    • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, contributing to a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
    • Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
    • Documentation: Enter and maintain accurate information in electronic health records and other documentation systems.
    • Prepare and organize patient charts, ensuring completeness and correctness.
    • Compliance: USAs are responsible for ensuring compliance with CA DPH regulations and adhering to the rules and regulations of the assigned hospitals and/or clinics. This encompasses maintaining licensures, participating in required trainings, and overseeing tasks such as retrieving medical records to uphold regulatory standards.

    Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or education in healthcare administration is a plus.
    • Medical Assisting or CNA experience preferred
    • Bilingual (Spanish) required
    • Current CPR Card issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
    • Must have proof of MMR, Varicella vaccinations or titers.
    • Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 Months
    • Current Annual Health Clearance
    • Prior experience in a healthcare setting or administrative role is preferred.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proficient in basic computer applications and office equipment.
