Junior Data Scientist – Mount Laurel, NJBackground Information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to be based in our Mount Laurel, NJ office.
Overview:
The Junior Data Scientist position offers an engineer the opportunity to utilize knowledge and talents as part of a collaborative team developing AI solutions for a growing company.
Ideal candidates will not only have relevant background and experience in the field of AI/ML, but also demonstrate intellectual curiosity, strong programming skills, critical thinking, and eagerness to tackle challenging problems.
A few of the responsibilities include supporting feasibility studies, assisting in the design of AI/ML and adjacent systems, implementing state-of-the-art AI/Machine Learning/Deep Learning (AI/ML/DL) solutions, and helping develop data pipeline capabilities.
All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.Responsibilities Include:
Assist in the Design and Development of solutions to deliver AI/ML/DL models from problem formulation to a productized, deployable, maintainable capability
Apply subject matter knowledge of AI/ML in creative ways to real-world business problems
Establish and leverage data management frameworks to store, extract and analyze relevant data
Use programming expertise and software engineering principles to integrate AI/ML or AI/ML-related capabilities into existing software frameworks
Take ownership of solutions that meet software design, quality, and performance requirements
Work with minimal supervision in a collaborative work environment to implement best-in-class solutions
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or other quantitative discipline, Masters Degree in a related area of study preferred
Required Skills:
Previous experience in a ML or data scientist role, or meaningful project experience in an academic setting within the fields of AI, ML, or Computer Science/Software Engineering
Fluency in a programming language used for data science, such as Python, Julia, or equivalent
Experience using ML and DL libraries, such as scikit-learn, Keras, etc.
Basic foundational knowledge of, and experience with, software engineering principles, practices, and techniques
Knowledge of the mathematical foundations of Statistical Learning as it applies to AI/ML
Preferred Skills:
Skills with other programming languages, such as Java or C/C++
Experience with Big Data frameworks such as Spark, Hadoop, Hive, etc.
Experience working with non-neural network-based applications of ML in areas such as data mining, clustering, rules-based learning, etc.
Experience with application container platforms
Familiarity with VMware or other virtualization software
Familiarity with concepts from Information System design and Information Science
