    The Water Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a proactive Project Geotechnical Engineer. This position is located in our Arlington, VA office.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

    Performing and managing small to medium-sized geotechnical projects and working closely with other disciplines to meet the project needs under the supervision of senior engineers

    Mentoring younger engineers

    Planning and oversight of subsurface investigation programs.

    Adhere to AECOM safety culture and maintain a safe work environment

    Assigning, reviewing, and performing statistical analysis on the results of the geotechnical laboratory testing

    Performing and reviewing design calculations for pavements, shallow and deep foundations, tunnel components, retaining walls, temporary and permanent support of excavation

    Perform and peer review settlement analyses, ground improvement analyses, slope stability analyses, seepage analyses,

    Working with the geophysics group to manage combined subsurface exploration programs

    Prepare engineering reports and memoranda

    Working in multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists with effective collaboration.

    Performing construction oversight

    Reviewing design reports and calculations performed by other firms and providing detailed review comments.

    Reviewing construction submittals and providing detailed review comments.

    Finding opportunities to bring innovation to the operations using data science, data analytics, and artificial intelligence.

    Participating in local professional events to represent AECOM

    Travel for projects domestically and internationally for one week to a month at a time.
