    Job Summary:

    Miami University Libraries Create & Innovate (C+I) department provides innovative spaces and services that promote experiential learning, transdisciplinary research, and the creation of new scholarship at Miami University. The C&I department supports online learning by assisting students and faculty with in person and online collaboration. We are currently looking to hire students to work in our Makerspace as well as other high-tech, experiential learning environments that contain audio-visual, virtual or mixed reality, and data visualization equipment.
    This position provides assistance and consultation to clients using C&I resources. C&I spaces are experimental environments, and ideal student workers will be open to learning new tools and technologies, assisting our patrons with a failure-positive attitude.
    Students will have the opportunity to build their resume or portfolio by partnering with staff on real-world projects relating to emerging technology, design, coding, and other topics.
    The most important quality that we are looking for in students for this role is an excitement and willingness to learn new things.

    Work assignments require limited direction and supervision.
    Experience or specialized knowledge in the area required.
    Ability to provide training or tutorial consultation for employees or students.
    Assist faculty in planning or producing instructional materials.
    Work directly with management in technical tasks.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Exceptional customer service skills
    Self motivated and strong sense of initiative
    Strong interpersonal communication skills
    Willingness to troubleshoot minor mechanical and software problems independently
    Ability to follow written & verbal instructions and to pass that information on to teach others
    Strong technology/software skills
    Ability to multitask
    Willingness to adapt to a dynamic environment
    Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independent of supervision
    Ability to be flexible with scheduling

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Knowledge and some experience of any of the following:
    Graphic Design
    Experience with makerspace technology, such as 3D printing, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) cutting machines, laser cutters, etc.
    3D modeling software (Tinkercad, Fusion360E, etc,)
    Video Editing (Final Cut Pro, Premiere, After Effects)
    Web Design / Programming Languages (HTML, CSS, PHP, etc.)
    Experience with Arduino/Raspberry Pi
