    Job DescriptionDescription:

    The Medical Billing and Coder plays a crucial role in the financial operations of River Region Psychiatry Associates by ensuring accurate and timely medical billing and posting. This position is responsible for processing claims, reconciling accounts, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines. The Billing Clerk works closely with clinical staff, insurance providers, and patients to facilitate smooth and efficient billing processes.

    1. Claims Processing:
    • Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies, government agencies, or other payers using appropriate billing codes and documentation.
    • Review claims for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    1. Payment Posting and Reconciliation:
    • Post payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts accurately and timely.
    • Reconcile billing statements and accounts receivable records to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
    1. Insurance Verification and Authorization:
    • Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients prior to services being rendered.
    • Obtain and document prior authorizations for treatments, medications, or procedures as required by payers.
    1. Patient Billing and Collections:
    • Generate patient statements, invoices, and bills for services rendered.
    • Coordinate with patients regarding payment arrangements, inquiries, and collections processes.
    1. Record Maintenance and Reporting:
    • Maintain organized and up-to-date billing records, documentation, and files.
    • Prepare and generate financial reports, aging summaries, and billing analytics as needed.
    1. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure adherence to billing regulations, coding standards, and ethical practices.
    • • Participate in internal audits, reviews, and quality assurance initiatives to maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance.
    Requirements:

    Education High School Diploma or Equivalent – Required

    Associates degree or certification in medical billing or related field is preferred

    Experience 2 years or more

    Certifications – CPC, CCS or CMC

    • Knowledge of coding systems – CPT ICD-10 and insurance reimbursement practices.
    • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and proficiency in numerical calculations
