- Provide occupational health services including pre-placement physical examination, Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA) examinations, and surveillance required by Cal/OSHA such as respirator medical evaluation and periodic evaluation for workers exposed to lead, noise, silica, and asbestos.
- Provide bloodborne pathogen exposure care to healthcare and other CCSF personnel.
- Provide expert clinical consultation and oversight to OHS providers, including medical documentation co-signature as needed for independent licensed providers.
- Supervise OHS Nurse Practitioners including counter signing documentation when indicated.
- Liaise with ZSFG Infection Control to address exposure/outbreak scenarios.
- Provide clinical coverage to the Medical Director and other duties as assigned.
- Liaise with industrial hygienists and safety personnel on safety/injury prevention programs and investigations as needed.
- Current license to practice medicine in the State of California.
- Board certification or eligibility in occupational and environmental medicine preferred. Will consider outstanding applicants with board certification/eligibility in internal medicine, family medicine, preventive medicine, physical rehabilitation medicine, or emergency medicine.
- Familiarity with medical evaluation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Summary
The Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG) Occupational Health Service (OHS) seeks a Staff Physician. The Staff Physician provide occupational health services delivered within ZSFG and across the City and County of San Francisco (CCSF) Department of Public Health, including the San Francisco Health Network. This is a clinical staff position in the Department of Medicine, Division of Occupational, Environmental and Climate Medicine at ZSFG.
Job duties:
NOTE: This is a one-year contract appointment at 50% FTE.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% – 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
The Division of Occupational, Environmental, and Climate Medicine (OECM) in the Department of Medicine at UCSF provides patient care, conducts research and teaching at UCSF Parnassus-Mount Zion, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System. The Division of OECM has achieved national and international recognition as a center for research, training, and clinical care in its field.
