    Job Duties

    Norfolk State University's Housing and Residence Life seeks applications for the Front Desk Supervisor. This position will assist the Resident Director with creating, coordinating and maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained residential environment.


    Duties and Responsibilities include:

    • Maintains supervision of front desk area during assigned shift, greets customers, answers phones, and provides exceptional customer service at all times.
    • Responsible for providing administrative support for general office tasks, assists with complaints, maintenance reports, issues, and data entry as needed.
    • Serves as the initial first-responder for emergencies, incidents and crises, as needed.
    • Serves as essential personnel.
    • Must be able to work 2:00 pm - 11:00 pm Monday thru Friday.

    Minimum Qualifications


    • Must possess excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills
    • Must be able to be creative and a self-starter, possess excellent organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize workload, and work well independently or within a team-oriented environment.
    • Must have strong customer service skills.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
    • Must be able to work well under stressful, intense conditions.
    • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of training and education that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    • Considerable experience working in an office setting handling general administrative tasks. 2. Experience working with diverse student populations strongly preferred.
    • Experience with emergency/incident response preferred.
    • Experience working under stressful conditions requiring quick-thinking and analytical skills desired.
    • Must be willing to fulfill responsibilities as essential personnel and be willing to work overtime, as needed.
