    Shift: Description:

    Duties and responsibilities.

    Oversees all operations of the hematology department.

    Responsible for completing competency assessments in collaboration with Quality Assurance and Compliance.

    Evaluating new instruments and procedures

    Performs validations and population studies

    Performs instrumentation value studies.

    Responsible for ensuring that samples are accessioned and tested promptly, accurately, and proficiently, while adhering to applicable CAP and CLIA regulations.

    Position Summary:

    Establishes policies, procedures, and protocols for testing performed in a defined laboratory section. Defines analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and reference ranges for test methods. Oversees quality control testing an d instrument maintenance.

    Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels. Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.

    Assesses quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols. Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.

    Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints. Serves as a consultant to laboratory staff as well as other members of the healthcare team as needed. Acts as manager in their absence.

    Education Requirements:

    1. Requires a Bachelors degree and certificate from a school of medical technology, or any other culmination meeting supervisory qualifications of the NYS Department of Health.

    Prefer certification by a nationally recognized clinical laboratory certifying agency.

    Hold a valid New York State License from the Department of Education as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT).

    Experience Requirements:

    1. Minimum of two years laboratory experience required.

    2. Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

    3. Familiar with technology related to practice in assigned section.

    Salary Range: $78,624 - $97,864

    Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
