    Job Summary:

    Ensure that funds are raised through grants to support the Mission of Ohio's Hospice and its partnering hospices so that end-of-life programs, services, and endowment needs are met. This includes establishing and maintaining personal contact with granting sources, along with Development Directors, in order to strengthen relationships with foundation contacts, producing and sharing data pertinent to grants being sought, and maintaining a calendar of submission and other deadlines. Researches, submits, presents, and prepares post-award progress/outcome reports for granting sources so that grantors know how their gift positively impacted the program/service for which the grant was written. The person filling this position is responsible for the oversight of gifts being processed in an efficient and timely manner and will work with staff from other partnering development offices to secure grants on behalf of their respective programs. The person in this position is committed to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospice concept of care. Assists in the development of the Ohio's Hospice Foundation's development action plans and expense budgets.

    What You Should Know About this Role:

    • This is a full-time position.
    • Schedule will include Monday-Friday with hours of 8:30am-5:00pm.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Build and manage a portfolio of local and national donor prospects consisting of constituency groups (such as corporations, foundations, and individuals) using Raiser's Edge and iWave donor software and solicits same to build prospective donor base. Report progress monthly with supervisor.
    • Researches, writes, submits, and serves as the Foundation's point of contact to organizations from whom grants will be sought. Meet or exceed the annual revenue budget assigned to the "Grants" appeal. Ensure applications and reports are accurate, impactful, and submitted on time.
    • Maintains comprehensive documentation of past, current and potential granting opportunities that includes name, address, phone number; website address; preferred grant templates; granting schedules; profile of funding preferences per grantor; and history of past grants to Ohio's Hospice.
    • Identify and research new granting sources and seek funding through those sources to fund programs, capital projects and other special initiatives. Facilitate team or department meetings with hospice staff, collect and interpret data, develop goals and objectives, structure strategies for inclusion in grant proposals.
    • Compose and distribute updates in writing on programs/projects funded by donor support on a regular basis to all grantors so that grantors know how their dollars were invested/used in support of our organization's Mission. Submit follow-up reports to all grantors as requested/required. This includes thank-you notes/letters when each grant is confirmed.
    • Research best and emerging health care practices and priorities. Review publications and websites for funding trends and opportunities.
    • Gather necessary data and information for funding applications and reports. Works closely with staff in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals. Work with finance and program staff, assist with the development, review and compilation of proposal budgets.

    Qualifications:

    1. Associate degree in Marketing or Communications or the equivalent in at least 5 years proven success in fund development
    2. Background in grant writing preferred
    3. Competent in information technologies (WORD mandatory; Raiser's Edge and Excel competency a plus)
    4. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at hand
    5. Valid Driver's license in the state of Ohio
    6. State minimum auto insurance
