- Work with the OSPO director to develop tutorials and workshops on open-source methods and tools for the Syracuse University community
- Provide technical support to the academic community for developing open-source software and using open-source tools.
- Engage with other OSPOs and stay abreast of developments in the open-source community by attending conferences and other ad-hoc meetings
- Carry out research and publish in the candidate's domain of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates who develop open-source software in their own research
- Mentor and collaborate with graduate students as a part of their research program.

Job Description
The Syracuse University Open-Source Project Office (SU-OSPO) is seeking a postdoc to oversee the scientific aspects of open-source software development on campus. The SU-OSPO is a new office with funding support provided by the Sloan Foundation. The qualified candidate will assist the OSPO director in establishing the office, develop educational materials related to open-source development for the university community, provide training to faculty and students on open-work best practices, and stay abreast of developments in the open-source community. The candidate is also encouraged to pursue their own research in their domain of expertise. Qualifications A Ph.D. in physics, data science, or other related field is required. Candidate must have experience developing research code in an open-source environment, and be familiar with tools commonly used by the open-source community (such as GitHub).
