    Senior Laser Design Engineer

    Overview

    We are seeking a Senior Laser Design Engineer to play a key role in the design and development of semiconductor laser products for high-volume manufacturing. This position involves close collaboration with internal cross-functional teams and external manufacturing partners to deliver high-performance, reliable laser devices.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and develop epitaxial structures for semiconductor laser diodes, including DFB and related architectures, to optimize performance metrics such as optical power, efficiency, wavelength stability, beam quality, modulation speed, and reliability
    • Analyze experimental and manufacturing data to establish correlations between device performance and design parameters
    • Perform failure analysis and root-cause investigations related to device functionality, yield, and long-term reliability
    • Collaborate closely with epitaxial growth, device integration, process, packaging, and test teams throughout the product development lifecycle
    • Support the transition of designs from development to volume manufacturing
    • Interface with external foundries and partners as needed
    • Occasional, limited travel may be required

    Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Optics, or a related field
    • Minimum of 1-4 years of industry experience in semiconductor laser development
    • Hands-on design experience with DFB or other laser diode architectures
    • Experience with GaAs- or InP-based laser devices is a plus
    • Familiarity with wafer processing, epitaxial characterization, packaging and testing, reliability testing, and failure analysis
    • Strong understanding of laser diode physics, modeling, and device behavior
    • Demonstrated track record of successful laser diode development
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and effective collaborator in a cross-functional environment
