    Position responsible for serving in a leadership role and as a clinical expert in the delivery and management of comprehensive patient care, utilizing research and evidence-based practice; for expertly caring for patients from multiple services/specialties, and for more complex diagnosis.Job Description

    Minimum Qualifications:
    1. Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing; Baccalaureate degree preferred.
    2. Experience: Five years experience as a Registered Nurse in current specialty.
    3. Licenses/Certification:
    4. Current State of Texas License/permit to practice professional nursing.
    5. Certified in Basic Life Support.
    6. Meeting minimum requirement for RN IV of clinical ladder.
    7.     Principle Accountabilities:
    1. Delivers the appropriate care to patients, at a competent level, according to the RN skills inventory and the age and needs of the patient/population served; is cross-trained to competently care for patients from multiple services/specialties; identifies and utilizes available resources to resolve any problems.
    2. Coordinates the planning for the delivery of nursing care with a multidisciplinary team and administers appropriate clinical decisions in the delivery of care, utilizing existing resources and staff, and setting appropriate priorities and patient assignments; participates in the development of clinical pathways and monitoring of performance outcomes.
    3. Collaborates and directs the healthcare team in the attainment of positive outcomes based on data, research, evidence, and professional standards of care. Meets treatment goals; develops/ implements discharge and/or transfer plans; evaluates the quality of patient care and contributes to the revision of standards of care; assists manager with employee related issues such as performance and serves as preceptor and charge nurse on the unit, as assigned.
    4. Ensures safe care to patients and adheres to and develops evidence based practice procedures, policies and standards of care, utilizes research based evidence and participates in research protocols, develops patient focused clinical programs, provides staff education, and promotes quality nursing care within operating budgetary specifications.
    5. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
    6. Participates in a systemic, interdisciplinary, and ongoing evaluation of programs, process improvement, and desired client-centered outcomes.
