    JOB SUMMARY

    This position performs routine work operating a telephone switchboard or console and performing receptionist duties. Work involves placing, answering, and transferring local and long-distance calls, receiving visitors, and providing general information. Ability to work harmoniously with individuals, their families, and staff. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

    May be required to work extended hours until adequately relieved by on-coming employee; may be required to come in early from time to time to provide adequate coverage; may have to work alone; and fulfill and perform other job duties as assigned.

    This position will work with the revenue cycle team with overflow billing, scheduling and confirming appointments.

    Qualifications

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule.
    • Ability to provide excellent customer service skills in dealing with patients, personnel, physicians, and peers upon their arrival to the hospital.
    • Welcome and greet patients, clients, visitors to the department in a manner that is helpful and friendly; determine purpose of visit and direct to appropriate person or department as well as walk to area when needed.
    • Maintains patient waiting areas, front lobby area, and front desk areas in manner that is organized and neat.
    • Maintain consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.
    • Ability to multi-task, utilize critical thinking skills, organize, determine priority of duties, some computer skills, effective oral and written communication skills, work independently, work with frequent interruptions, and manage stressful situations.
    • During down-times, or slower day periods within the day, be self-motivated to assist and learn other areas.
    • Work with the revenue cycle team with overflow billing, scheduling and confirming appointments.

    • Respond as required to all medical, fire and weather emergencies.
