The surgery unit has 29beds. Our dynamic patient population includes surgical, trauma anda variety of medical patients. Our surgeries typically involve theneck to the gut. This population includes GI surgeries such ascolon resections, small bowel resections, cholecystectomies andappendectomies. We also care for vascular surgeries, mastectomies,thyroidectomies and maxillofacial procedures, etc. Patients mayhave an ostomy, NGT and/or other feeding tube and/or drains.
Traumapatients may have multiple injuries, chest tubes, a tracheostomyand/or other drains, but have stabilized enough for a non-ICU/stepdown med-surg floor admission.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The staff nurse provides nursing care topatients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursingprocesses to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care forpatients.
The staff nurse is responsible for maintainingstandards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of allassigned staff in the provision of quality nursingcare.

Qualifications:
MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursingprogram
MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
New Graduates of a nursing programeligible
MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
CurrentLicense in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLCMultistate License. BLS certification required.
ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced certification in fieldof specialty, if applicable. Bachelor's degree preferred. NursingExperience in Hospital Setting Preferred.
