    Summary of Position
    Keene State College's Facilities Services Department invites applications for an Electician Apprentice. Under the supervison of the master electrician the apprentice will assist with electrical installations, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, fixtures, and wiring. This is a 40 hour per week position with a salary range of $18.00-$20.00 per hour, commensurate with education and experience, and complemented by a competitive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off.

    Enrolled in state of NH journeyman apprenticeship program.
    Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
    Post-offer, pre-employment physical exam required.
    Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.
    Valid motor vehicle operator's license and a safe driving record.

    Additional Preferred Qualifications
    2-4 years of apprenticeship completed.
    Knowledge of applicable electric codes.
    Knowledge of methods, tools and hazards of the trade.
    Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematic diagrams and wire circuit drawings.
    Ability to compute voltage amperage and resistance factors using simple algebraic formulas.
    Ability to inspect equipment, determine malfunction and make necessary repairs.

    Salary Information

    Duties / Responsibilities



    Job Duties

    Duty/Responsibility
    At the direction and oversight of the master electrician assist contractors and sub-contractors.
    • provide access to work spaces and assist as necessary

    Generate, retrieve, review, and maintain work orders
    Maintain paperwork, emails, invoicing for purchases to track credits (i.e. rebates, incentives) pertaining to upgrades, purchases, and building assignments Order and pick up supplies

    Learning from the master electrician and completing all assigned duties.
    • Identifying, analyzing, troubleshooting, and assisting with repairs of equipment and electrical faults.
    • Traveling out to various public and private spaces to assist the master electrician.
    • Ordering replacement parts and equipment as needed.
    • Completing electrical installations and carrying out various maintenance duties.
    • Working irregular hours and overtime when required.
    • Communicating with clients in a professional, courteous manner at all times.
    • Collaborating with construction workers, plumbers, and other team members.
    • Willingness to be on call and to report to work nights and weekends.
    • Assist with Fire alarm maintenance and troubleshooting.
    • Troubleshoot general Fire Alarm panel trouble and map fault issues and make appropriate repairs or tell supervisor.
