    Description
    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Coordinate the dispatch of resources based on operational demands and scheduling requirements.
    • Oversee the daily activities of Steel and Pipe Supply's dedicated fleet to move inbound and outbound loads in the most efficient manner.
    • Serve as the central point of communication between field teams, drivers, and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Implement emergency response plans to address unforeseen challenges.
    • Utilize dispatch systems and software to track and manage resources.
    • Contact common carriers for inbound and outbound loads as required to satisfy special requests from Purchase or Sales.
    • Audit freight bills.
    • Create shipments as needed.
    PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS
    • Majority of the time will be spent in an office.
    • Minimal travel.
    • Fast-paced, moderately stressful, constantly changing day-to-day work environment.
    • Continuous communication with different departments and our transportation network.
    REQUIRED BACKGROUND, COMPETENCIES, & EXPERTISE
    • Previous experience within a shipping department.
    • Good transportation knowledge.
    • Interpersonal relationships
    • Proven communication skills.
    • Accountability
    • Positive can-do attitude.
    • Good problem-solving skills.
    • Making good decisions based on all available information.
    • Knowledge of Hours of Service.
    • Good computer skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a work environment that calls for frequent interaction in a fast-paced environment that may at times prove stressful.
    PREFERRED BACKGROUND, COMPETENCIES, & EXPERIENCE
    • Previous dispatching experience.
    • Knowledge of DOT regulations.
    • Knowledge of the steel/metals industry.
    • Flatbed operations experience.
    • Bachelor's degree in logistics or supply chain or equivalent work experience.
    Pay and Benefits

    Starting pay depending on experience.
