- Perform month-end, quarter-end and year-end close tasks including journal entry preparation, variance reporting, reconciliations, and account analyses.
- Track, analyze and report inventory valuations, ensure valued inventories have accurate quantities and are properly valued in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare and analyze monthly reclass journal entries between COGS, R&D and SGA.
- Prepare fluctuation analysis with explanations for material, labor, and overhead COGS in financial statements.
- Review customer contracts to ensure that revenue is recognized accurately in accordance with ASC 606
- Work with Commercial operations to onboard new customers, calculate revenue monthly, and generate invoices
- Oversee company-wide payroll and ensure compliance with local tax authorities.
- Responsible for year-end close out of internal payroll and external consultant processes, including W-2 and 1099 preparation.
- Participate in quarterly review procedures and annual audit by providing information and responding to auditor requests and inquiries.
- Monitor compliance with GAAP and company procedures, identifying and communicating any accounting, financial, or control issues to management.
- Provide financial support to users as required and assist with any other projects as needed.
- Help design, implement, and maintain a thorough system of accounting processes, policies, and SOX-compliant controls.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent; CPA or CMA preferred.
- At least five years of experience in accounting is required, preferably in a manufacturing company.
- Considerable knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP principles and financial statements, including ASC 606 and multi-element experience and ASC 842.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with NetSuite; Airbase & Floqast a plus.

- This is a hybrid position. We're looking for someone based in the San Francisco Bay Area who is able to work in person at our office in South San Francisco at least 2 days per week.

Clients design, manage, and analyze bioprocess experiments in Culture's Console web application. The Opportunity:
Culture Biosciences is looking for a Senior Accountant. Your focus will be on the timely and accurate production of financial reporting deliverables for the company's internal and external stakeholders. This position will work closely with other members of the Culture team to assist with month-end close, financial reporting, payroll and internal process improvement. This role entails collaboration with a diverse array of operational teams.
What you'll do:
Culture Biosciences's compensation package includes market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, and great benefits. Our expected salary range for this role is $115,000 - $130,000. We are hiring for multiple levels and backgrounds so final offers may vary within the range provided based on experience, expertise, and other factors.
