    Description
    Purpose of Position
    Provides primary Radiology Health Care under the direct supervision and oversight of the attending radiologist.

    Description
    Core Privileges for the Radiologist Assistant may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    1. Primary responsibility of scribing US, CR and CT reports for review with interpreting radiologist.
    2. Will audit radiologists' reports for voice recognition errors.
    3. Works closely with ultrasound department. Performs US-guided procedures such as hysterosonograms under the supervision of radiologist.
    4. Engages in fluoroscopic guided Upper GI series, Hysterosalpingography, ERCP, LPs, Myelography, VCUG, Barium swallows.
    5. Performs fluoroscopically guided arthrograms and joint injections.
    6. Performs ultrasound and CT guided paracentesis and thoracentesis.
    7. May assist in the performance of non-endovascular imaging and guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to drainages, biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, lumbar puncture and myelography.
    8. Exercises autonomy in decision making with regards to patient assessment, patient management and in providing a broad range of radiology diagnostic and interventional services.
    9. Assesses and evaluates the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of each patient.
    10. Obtain patient consent for procedures.
    11. Administers intravenous medications or contrast media, under the supervision of a certified radiologist.
    12. Performs fluoroscopic procedures, both dynamic and static.
    13. Performs specialized imaging procedures under the supervision of a certified radiologist.
    14. Protocols imaging studies.
    15. Scribes preliminary reports on all imaging modalities to be reviewed and finalized by an attending radiologist.
    16. Issues critical results dictated by the attending radiologist.
    17. Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.
    Qualifications
    • Graduate of a CBRPA program or ARRT program
    • Must have a Masters degree of Health Science Radiologist Assistant
    • At least two years of experience in diagnostic radiology (scribing plain films, ultrasounds and CT reports for review with the interpreting radiologist.
    • Registered / licensed as a Radiology Physician Extender and radiologic technologist in the State of Massachusetts
    • In good standing and active registration with CBRPA or ARRT.
