    Description

    Come join a dynamic company Brulin has an exciting career opportunity for a Chemist In this role a candidate will have the responsibilities for company's growth through product innovation, maintenance, and compliance. The Chemist is responsible for new product development from conception to commercialization, product reformulation with new or alternative chemistries, product continuity by qualifying alternative material sources, and product qualities by establishing effective manufacturing procedures, controls, and specifications. The Formulation Chemist is accountable for the job performance consistent with quality standards per Brulin Quality Management System and safety practices per OHSA standards for the laboratory safety. The Formulation Chemist is the innovative engine for the organization's growth.

    Position Objectives & Primary Responsibilities

    • Translates project requirements into formulation requirements, measures, and targets.
    • Develops and validates new test methods and procedures.
    • Develop, tracks, and communicates project timelines and milestones.
    • Establishes acceptance criteria and tests in different stages of product development.
    • Documents, analyzes, and reports project works, experimental observations, and test results.
    • Performs product tests in the lab, plant, or at customer sites.
    • Identifies and qualifies new or alternative raw material sources.
    • Establish manufacturing procedures, controls and specifications.
    • Troubleshoots and resolves customer complaints.
    • Resolves manufacturing issues.
    • Develops product training materials and conducts training sessions to peers, sales, marketing and/or customers.
    • Serves as a backup to production QC.
    • Writes laboratory policies, procedures, and work instructions.
    • Remains current on raw material chemistries and technologies.
    • Remains current on regulatory requirements.

    Position-Specific Skills Required

    • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or relevant field. Advanced degree preferred.
    • Minimum 5 years of formulation experience in relevant industry. Experience in formulating industrial cleaners or floor care products preferred.
    • Must be able to perform odor and visual color tests.
    • Effective writing skills with regards to project notebook and lab reports a must.
    • Able to operate cleaning equipment for product testing (e.g., floor stripper, automatic scrubber, etc.)
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to plan, organize, be flexible and meet deadlines.
    • Computer literacy, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, ERP and Internet.
