    Description

    We are currently looking for a Full Time General Surgeon to join our Division of Hospital and Nursing Services team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.

    Summary:


    The General Surgeon through training will have acquired knowledge and experience related to the diagnosis and preoperative, operative and postoperative management, including the management of complications, in the essential content areas of, but not limited to, alimentary tract, abdomen and its content, breast, skin and soft tissue, endocrine system, head and neck surgery, surgical critical care, trauma, burns and vascular surgery.

    Responsibilities:


    • Provides comprehensive general surgery care in the emergency medicine department including arrangement of transfer of patients to another facility and/or physician for testing, consultation, treatment and/or admission when appropriate
    • Provides comprehensive inpatient surgical care in medical/surgical unit and ICU
    • Provides comprehensive care for patients in the General Surgery Clinic
    • Ensures continuity of care
    • Acts as a consultant to other physicians
    • Initiates consultations and monitors scheduling of patients for surgery and special tests
    • Mentors, coaches, develops and assists in training in assigned area
    • Serves on and/or leads department meetings, committees, and/or workgroups as assigned
    • Participates in performance improvement activities to measure, assess and improve the quality of assigned work area
    • Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
    • Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
    • Shares responsibilities for maintaining adequate supplies and equipment
    • Maintains general upkeep of work area and maintains a safe environment
    • Observes and addresses potential environmental hazards and risks
    • Maintains and promotes professionalism
    • Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics
    • Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards
    • May provide break coverage for others as assigned
    • May augment staff in other areas as needed based on staffing and needs ratio in regularly assigned unit
    • Maintain knowledge of and follow all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc.
