- Provide integrative cancer treatment, tailored to patients' needs all in a very caring and compassionate environment.
- Have teaching responsibilities for the surgical residents and medical student as well as clinical appointment at USF and UCF commensurate with experience and academic qualifications.
- Will have the opportunity to conduct basic and clinical research.
- Encouraged to have the training and technical skills to help advance the application of minimally invasive surgical techniques and robotics in the management of complex UGI and HBP surgical oncology.
- Will acquire an academic affiliation with the University of South Florida and the University of Central Florida.
- Rotates with other physicians on a regular basis as needed. He/She also works on-call as priorities demonstrate a need.
- Have the support of a team of physicians, surgeons, practitioners, and support staff to provide integrative cancer treatment, tailored to patients' needs all in a very caring and compassionate environment.
- Responsible for providing the patient with risks, benefits and alternative treatments and securing the informed consent of the patient/family needed before conducting invasive procedures.
- Meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions. Communicates and treats customers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.

Summary
The C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center is seeking a fellowship trained, board-certified, or board-eligible surgical oncologist to join a team of four board certified general surgeons at its C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center Campus to expand surgical oncology practice. This position will include a mixed of Surgical Oncology and General Surgery with General Surgery call. The C.W. Bill Young Medical Center is the only VA medical Center in Florida with a Commission on Cancer Approved Cancer Program.
Duties
This is an open continuous announcement that will remain open until filled. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Eligible applicants will be referred each week for consideration until a selection is made.

Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): An Incentive is authorized.
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
