    Job DescriptionAdult Nutritionist$ $72378Reprts to: Lead NutritionistPart Time / Per DiemFlexible Hours Evenings and SaturdaysPOSITION SUMMARY:Registered Nutritionist is part of the nutrition team who provides each patient with the highest level of nutrition programming in a positive, professional, culturally appropriate manner. With the incorporation of a viable nutrition program, BNHC can address issues of diabetes, obesity, and hypertension by helping patients select healthy food options in conjunction with medical intervention for the treatment of these diseases.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Provide individualized nutrition counseling (MNT) to clients with a wide range of medical conditions.
    2. Provide group education in Shared Medical Appointment format with other medical providers.
    3. Conduct Weekly Cooking classes at the BNHC professional-level demonstration kitchen to support the interpretation of various recommended diets (DASH etc.)
    4. Develop educational program materials and handouts with input of Lead Nutritionist.
    5. Support BNHC Providers by providing quarterly nutrition in-services as needed.
    ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
    • BS Nutrition
    • Registered Dietitian.
    • Massachusetts Dietitian/Nutritionist licensure required
    • CPR/AED certification.
    • Minimum 2 years community nutrition experience especially valued.
    • Interest/experience in cooking. ServSafe Certification helpful.
    • Certified Diabetes Educator preferred
    • Cape Verdean/Spanish/or Haitian Creole speaking candidates encouraged to apply.
    WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Works in a busy community health center in a thriving urban neighborhood. Physical demands require lifting small office and cooking supplies (not over 25 lbs.), mostly sedentary with some walking within office and to and from other departments. Works long hours as needed to meet project deadlines and patient needs. Visual acuity sufficient for frequent reading. Hearing acuity sufficient for holding conversations with or without audio devicesAbout us: BNHC is a multicultural organization that collaborates with community agencies and residents to provide high quality comprehensive health care. BNHC serves an extremely diverse patient population including Brazilian, Cape Verdean, Haitian, Latino, Portuguese, African American and Caucasian, 77% of whom live in poverty.BNHC is committed to providing a safe and heathy environment for patients and staff. As a condition of employment, employees, to include new hires, are required to be fully vaccinated to include the most recent COVID 19 booster and annual flu vaccines, with the exception of those who have documented medical or religious exemptions, that must be approved by BNHC according to its protocols. Additional vaccines may be required based on the recommendation of the CDC. New hires who are not yet vaccinated for flu or COVID can arrange to be vaccinated on site.
