    Job DescriptionSalary: $47,000 - $52,000 annually

    Since 1985, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless has dedicated its mission exclusively to providing services to people experiencing homelessness. AHCH provides a distinctive continuum of integrated care through outreach and site-based services to address the health-related causes and consequences of homelessness. Our vision is to live in a world that is just and without homelessness.     The Grant Writer position is responsible for development of written proposals to support the annual operational planning and business model viability of Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless. This position directly reports to the Chief Operations Officer.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Initiate and coordinate the grants process to ensure high quality, competitive applications are submitted complete and on time
    • Generate high-quality proposals, narrative, applications and supporting documentations in response to solicitations consistent organizational policies and procedures and the requirements and guidelines of the prospective funding agency
    • Collaborate with team members to capture the pragmatic or administrative deliverables and experience necessary to develop a compelling grants application
    • Research and identify new government, corporate, foundation and private funding prospects to match organizational priorities
    • Oversee grants management tracking system to record prospective, submitted, and approved grants and associated timelines and requirements to ensure greatest potential in receiving and sustaining funding
    • Coordinate grant reporting requirements with the AHCH Data Manager and Programs Leadership
    • Develop and maintain grant templates and materials
    • Maintain a comprehensive, shared file of all documentation prepared and/or received as part of the grants and awards management process
    • Ensure professional and confidential management of grant records, organizational documents, and data that align with organizational policy and legal regulations
    • Study the organizational history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization to best represent our model to prospective and current funders
    • Serve as a secondary liaison to funders during the COO's absence
    • Attend networking meetings and events with prospective funders to represent the organization
    • Comply with all AHCH policies and procedures
    • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Grant writing experience, preferably in a health organization
    • Proven track record of securing new funding opportunities
    • Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process
    • Proven record of securing large public (city, county, state, federal) awards
    • Have ability to tie grant funding to strategic priorities and communicate the connection to broad range of staff and community partners
    • Familiarity with programs and processes of primary granting agencies, including federal agencies as well as corporate and private sponsors
    • Have keen attention to detail and strong editing
    • Ability to work effectively under strict deadlines
    • Excellent writing and verbal skills
    • High level of organization and the ability to implement and follow-up processes
    • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively or independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
    • Three years of experience in grant writing
    • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Writing, or relevant degree or commensurate relevant work experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in English, Communications, Writing
    • Five years of experience in grant writing
    • A proven record of securing major grants with certifiable references
    • Knowledge of grant application process, scoring criteria and funding cycles
    • Previous federal grant application, submission, approval and management of funds experience
