POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day production areas of the plant and their employees. Establishing production goals, safety standards, and production processes that maximize production activities.
Creating and managing production budgets, collecting, reviewing data to reduce inefficiencies and waste, analyzing data, creating reports to present to executives regarding processes, overseeing work schedules to ensure coverage, and performing routine safety checks on equipment.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
Strong communication/ leadership skills.
Good math and measurement skills.
Independent and self-motivated.
Great problem-solving skills.
Strong supervisory skills, including training, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
Thorough knowledge of company health, safety, and environmental policies
Extensive knowledge of production processes and equipment. Ability to lead change management initiatives.
Minimum 7 years of plant management experience.
Experience in metal foundry, chemical, or similar industry is desired.
Chemical/materials/metallurgical/mechanical engineer preferred.
AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY:
Develops and matures a Culture of Safety and possesses a Continuous Improvement mindset.
Works alongside and supports the Environmental Health and Safety Team.
Owns and matures Quality Standards.
Create, present, and maintain budgets, i.e., labor, maintenance, etc.
Ensures that weekly production and labor schedules are developed and oversees the use and submittal of production forms and other documentation to ensure it is being completed accurately.
Oversees schedule of daily maintenance of equipment plant-wide and ensures it is completed as scheduled.Purchases maintenance parts and materials necessary to keep the plant running smoothly.
Monitors Managers and Supervisors to ensure that all work is being completed to company standards and guidelines.
Oversees Managers, and Supervisors to ensure that employees are performing tasks in a safe/efficient manner.
Oversees and ensures the cleanliness of production areas of the plant.
Assists with employee selection, job training, and development. Also assists Supervisors address employee performance issues and other issues which may require disciplinary action.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand and walk up to 12 hours per day
Ability to wear PPE, including, but not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, respirator, work safety boots and company uniform.
Capable of lifting heavy objects up-to 50 pounds.Must be available "on call" as needed.
