    Job Summary

    This posting will be used to fill two (2) positions. One will be assigned to Forensic Systems and one to Quality Assurance.

    These are permanent, full-time positions in which the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Forensic Science Services (BCA FSS) is looking for Quality Systems Support Specialists to provide support to the Quality Systems Group. The Quality Systems Group covers Forensic Systems and Quality Assurance. Quality System Support Specialists will provide support to Forensic Systems Administrators. Forensic Systems includes the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), Laboratory Asset Management System (LAMS), Breath Alcohol Database (BrAD), and associated communication protocols involving these systems. These positions will support BCA FSS needs for timely support for both internal and external users of current forensic systems. In addition, these positions will support the Quality Assurance Group with activities associated with accreditation and the BCA FSS Quality Management System. Activities will include supporting the proficiency test program, courtroom testimony monitoring, and safety program. These activities will be conducted in adherence to the agency policies and procedures in a manner that embodies the mission, vision, and values of the MN BCA.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Two years' work experience providing administrative support duties for information systems within a business setting, such as maintaining computer systems. NOTE: An associate degree may substitute for six months of experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for one year of experience.

    Work experience must include the following:

    • Experience in hardware/software installation, interface and computer support for users.
    • Experience in with computer programs including Adobe Acrobat Professional and Microsoft Office.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work effectively on multiple tasks.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work with individuals from a diverse background.

    Preferred Qualifications

    1. A bachelor's or advanced degree in management information systems, information technology, computer science, digital forensics, forensic science, or equivalent.
    2. Experience or advanced training in hardware/software installation, interface and ongoing support for users in a law enforcement agency.
    3. Experience using, maintaining, and/or managing a ticketing system that tracks reported issues and their current status.
    4. Experience documenting and/or recreating workflow processes.
    5. Familiarity with use and maintenance of management information systems.
    6. Operational knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
    7. Operational knowledge of ANAB Forensic Laboratory Accreditation Program.
    8. Experience in problem solving, root cause analysis, and appropriately evaluate a course of action.

    Physical Requirements

    Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50-pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
