    Notice to Applicant about this Employer: You are applying for a job with an independently owned cooperative member of Ace Hardware Corporation, who operates this Ace Hardware store, not Ace Hardware Corporation.

    The independent store owner alone is responsible for and independently makes all decisions concerning employment related matters, including hiring, firing, discipline, supervision, staffing and scheduling.

    Ace Hardware Corporation will not receive a copy of any applications submitted for this position and will have no control over interviews and/or hiring decisions, does not control and is not responsible for the employment policies and practices of the independent store owner.

    If hired, the independent store owner will be your only employer. Ace Hardware Corporation is not the employer for this position.

    General Summary


    As a cashier, your love for Ace Hardware and enthusiasm for helping customers will provide a friendly and memorable experience for the customer.

    Be customer focused and offer personalized customer service. You will help welcome customers and become a multitasking superstar-starting conversation and making connections to effectively serve each customer. Greeting every customer with eye contact and a smile in your own authentic way. At Ace Hardware, we work as a team to provide the best possible experience for our customers.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities
    Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Customer Service


    Project a positive representation of Ash & Rowan ACE, ACE on Francis, Ace at Indian Trail


    Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers by name, when possible, when they are leaving the store.


    Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.


    Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.


    Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously and effectively.


    Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance.


    Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with store layout and product location.


    Assist in pricing, stocking, marking and bagging of merchandise.

    Register Operations


    Follow all cash register transaction procedures.


    Responsible for balancing of register drawer.


    Adhere to any program or promotion that may require implementation at the cash registers.


    Participate in store and Cashier meetings.


    Consistent and effective use of radios and phones.

    Front End Appearance and Upkeep


    Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean at all times.


    Face and dust front end.


    Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, rotate fresh merchandise in as seasons change.


    Ensure fresh ads are stocked in shopping carts at all times.


    Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times.


    Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Other Essential Requirements
    Ability to count money accurately, read, communicate verbally and listen. Willingness to work any hours or days assigned including weekends and open or closing shifts. Willingness to cover shifts at both locations if needed.
    This job operates with the flow of customers. When it's slow, it's expected for cashiers to stay busy with miscellaneous assigned tasks. When it is busy, the job requires effective multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.

    Education and Experience.
    Must be at least 18 years of age. One year of customer service and cash handling experience preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft and PC operations is recommended.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.


    While performing the duties of this job, the cashiers must be able to her, speak, and see to clearly communicate with customers and other team members.

    The job requires extended periods of standing. Cashier must be able to lift at least 40lbs.
