    About the Role

    Scoular is looking for an experienced finance professional to take on the role of Senior Accountant for both our Warrenton fishmeal rendering facility in Warrenton Oregon, and our Barley Protein facility located in Jerome, Idaho.

    The Senior Accountant is a key leader on the plant leadership teams.


    You will be tasked with providing analysis to guide decision-making and taking a leadership role in establishing strong financial performance and measurement.

    You will also provide leadership to the local plant facility team to ensure the financial accounting and reporting needs of the plant are met to help the plant management team to meet their budgeted financial goals.

    You will oversee the processing/manufacturing transaction system ensuring that controls are followed, and production is accurately reflected. You will also ensure all plant accounting/reporting is done and following US GAAP Accounting Standards and accounting policies/ procedures.
    Job Responsibilities
    Business Control – Ensure that each area of the process is consistently performing by monitoring validation points, controls and workflow
    Drive consistency and standardization of value-add business performance analysis and financial reporting for monthly, quarterly and year end closing
    Report the key metrics for cost, productivity, efficiency and financial results
    Support the presentation of the strategic plan for the business to the leadership team
    Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, highlighting the key drivers of the financial results and utilizing KPIs and benchmark dashboards customized to the business or function
    Serve as a trusted business partner and advisor demonstrating a deep understanding of strategic business priorities and growth drivers
    Support initiatives and projects throughout the organization with a focus on driving actions that improve the divisions performance

    Serve as the Super User and Subject Matter Expert for all systems, internal controls and financial reporting related to the processing/manufacturing businesses.

    Help to establish best practices for Scoular's growing manufacturing infrastructure within the transaction system, Microsoft D365.
    Make visits to each of the plants as necessary
    Be a key strategic business partner by adding value and anticipating needs
    Establish a solid internal control environment to ensure that all plant assets and inventories are safeguarded.
    Apply US GAAP and best practice Cost Accounting principles to ensure that financial statements are accurately reflected.
    Perform audits and reviews of operations as necessary
    Ensure that SOP's are written and continuously updated to ensure processes are efficient and being adhered to.
    Maintain accurate Inventory records
    Ensure Accounts receivable are monitored and treated according to US GAAP
    Perform Monthly and year end closes accurately and timely providing insight to results. Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts of various complexity on a monthly basis
