    Description
    SUMMARY:

    Supervise and implement processes, procedures, and maintain reporting to ensure the achievement of; on-time delivery, meeting estimated or below estimated costs, maintain high quality with minimal turnover. Develop long-term goals that formulate, plan, and implement new strategies that will improve designs, standardize CAD drafting and machine programming, lower costs of products fabricated, and improve lead-times on all design and fabrication orders.

    ESSENTIAL DAILY FUNCTIONS:
    • Supervise design, mechanical engineering and fabrication.
    • Coordinate fabrication schedules and material demands with purchasing, design, fabrication, and assembly departments.
    • Establish inventory policies that minimize the amount of inventory needed to meet assembly, manufacturing, and service requirements.
    • Provide monthly reports on completed order labor and material costs of all design projects and fabrication orders.
    • Supervise the training and cross-training of dept. staff.
    • Supervise design and manufacturing schedules to ensure that delivery dates are met, and inventory of finished goods are maintained.
    • Maintain and report on file storage standards.
    • Other duties as assigned/required.
    General
    • Maintain a productive departmental operation through daily written and verbal communication.
    • Develop, standardize and maintain all design and fabrication documentation.
    • Establish, prepare, implement, revise, and maintain department operation policies and procedures.
    • Ensure a safe working environment.
    • Create and maintain product specifications using CAD, Inventory, Fabrication and File Storage software.
    • Ensure that all manufacturing equipment, spares, and supplies, are maintained in good condition including the scheduling of periodic Preventative Maintenance.
    • Research and recommend additional or improvements on software, machinery and equipment.
    • Supervise the use of personnel, to ensure fulfillment of design and fabrication orders at their lowest feasible cost.
    • Provide support to other departments as required.
    • Create, maintain, and furnish necessary reporting on all related responsibilities.
    PLANNING AND REVIEW FUNCTIONS:
    • Identify equipment requirements to support forecasted production requirements and obtain multiple competitive bids on all required production equipment.
    • Continuously improve client satisfaction through programs to reduce delinquencies, provide for on-time delivery, and meet customer quality and cost expectations.
    • Establish relationship with the client's contacts with respect to functions your departments are required to perform for each client/project.
    • Participate and contribute in the implementation of new manufacturing processes, product and systems technology, to meet the company's objectives.
    • Conduct regular written reviews on all personnel within your departments.
    • Conceive, research, plan, target, and control reductions in cost and product lead-times on existing and new products.
    • Establish and implement quality improvement programs.
    JOB PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT:
    • Maintain an adequate work schedule that provides on-site supervision of staff during their scheduled work hours.
    • On-time completion of all orders/projects, job tasks and responsibilities.
    • Uphold and improve the quality and reliability of products fabricated, and design services provided.
    • Report on the percentage of on-time deliveries compared to their commitment dates.
    • Meet or exceed estimated profit margins based upon estimates provided.
    • Quality of supervision and on-time performance review of staff.
    • Ownership and follow through on responsibilities.
    • Prompt and professional response/resolution of client's issues.
    • Display of professional attire/conduct appropriate to the job's position and responsibilities.
    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor of Arts in Mechanical Engineering or CAD. Minor in Business Administration or a Certificate in Project Management a plus.
    • Minimum of 10 years' experience managing a; Design, CAD Drafting, and Manufacturing environments.
    • Working knowledge of computer automated design (CAD) software, preferably with SolidWorks and Inventor and Machine Programming (Sigmanest, Metalix, VisualMill) software.
    • Working knowledge of graphic art software; i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
    All employment candidates must pass: a NON-DOT Drug screening, Criminal and Credit Background Check and a Driver License Check prior to employment.
