    Under general supervision, the Machinist produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers; maintaining quality and safety standards; maintaining equipment and supplies to manufacture metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.

    Basic interpretation of blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

    Measures, marks, and scribes' dimensions and reference points on materials or work piece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.

    Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.

    Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
    Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
    Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
    Verifies conformance of finished work piece to drawing specifications.
    Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
    Meets production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality.
    Adheres to all factory safety procedures and guidelines.
    This position includes access or potential access to ITAR and/or EAR technical data.

    3-years related experience and/or training; Considered a developing professional within the field.


    LANGUAGE SKILLS
    Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

    Conceptual skills, process improvement, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation, supply management, tooling, inventory control, attention to detail, judgment.

    Writing skills required to complete documents and forms.

    Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders and/or special projects to meet customer demands.

    Understanding and experience in Lean manufacturing environment preferred. Participate in 5S related performance teams.
    Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with high attention to detail and accuracy.
