    We are Navis Clinical Laboratories, and we are made up of motivated and compassionate team members who provide innovative tools and services to provide accurate testing results. We are responsible for the biological, microbiological, serological, chemical, immunohematological, hematological, biophysical, cytological, pathological, or other examination of materials derived from the human body for the purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of any disease or impairment of human beings.

    Position Summary:

    The General Laboratory Manager oversees general lab operations under minimal supervision from the Operations Director. When required, this role performs all lab operations and provides general support to all departments. Directly reports to operations with oversight form Scientific Director.

    Essential Functions:
    • Qualifies as a General Supervisor under CLIA guidelines.
    • Ensures all new employee training and cross-training is compliant with all lab rules, regulations, standard work, standard operating procedures, and associated guidelines.
    • In conjunction with the Scientific Director, assures that all methods and validations meet with certification and compliance requirements.
    • Develops and implements approved work processes including SOPs, standard work, TWI and other methodologies.
    • Assists with performing as the lab's change agent, implementing improvements, and streamlining processes.
    • Acts as the IT contact for lab issues, system upgrades and new machine installation. Provides technical support for software testing.
    • Actively participates in all internal inspections. Technical resource and participant for external audits and inspections.
    • Develops, leads and assures programs are meeting company standards.
    • Documents discrepancies, exceptions and unusual trends. Researches and rectifies errors.
    • Assists analysts with exception items, answers questions and generally assists less experienced employees.
    • Follows all laboratory policies and procedures; adheres to all health and safety standards
    • Determines proper levels of materials and makes sure inventory is maintained to meet anticipated volumes. Performs or oversees validation processes for materials from new suppliers, assuring optimum levels of performance.
    • Analyzes, recommends, and implements worker and work area standardizations, methods, processes and procedures.
    • Provides support for team, assuring that personnel levels are appropriate for continuous workflow while maintaining first pass-through quality.
    • Prepares justification for increased manpower requirements.
    • Performs or reviews audits of processes, work production, employee knowledge and competency and documents results.
    • Schedules staff to assure optimum production and work coverage.
    • Responsible to maintain all safeguards as it pertains to Protected health information (PHI)
    Education and Experience:

    •Bachelor of Science degree with appropriate operational experience required.

    •MBA is beneficial.

    •5 Years in management rolls with responsibility for no less than 10 people preferred.

    •Ability to lead and reinforce change within an organization.

    •Familiarity with CLIA, CAP, and other relevant aspects of laboratory compliance.

    •Experience in analytical toxicology including experience with the analysis of biological material for drugs of abuse is preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    •Ability to understand analytical techniques and procedures.

    •Familiarity with understanding laboratory instrumentation.

    •Ability to understand the function of a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and other laboratory computer systems.

    •Expert ability to communicate ideas.

    Physical Requirements:

    •Light to moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.) - Heavier weights with assistance.

    •Sitting/ Standing for long periods of time.

    •Repetitive motions and/or prolonged computer use.

    •Working at a fast pace, subject to many interruptions and both physical and mental stress.

    •Possible exposure to odorous chemicals and specimens.

    •Air-conditioned laboratory environment.

    •Must wear provided personal protective equipment to include lab coat, gloves and face shields when working in the lab.
