    Description
    :

    RESPONSIBLE FOR:

    Meets and greets patients, obtains appropriatepatient information and medical history, accurately completes anddocuments patient medical and physical histories and other relateditems in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).


    • Recordsvital signs; performs EKG, spirometry and or other similar officeprocedures; aids licensed staff during treatment, examination, andor testing of patients, which may include injections andimmunizations. Advises physician and or nurse of patient's adversereaction to medication and/or treatment to medication and/ortreatment.
    • Performs lab duties, including but notlimited to
    :

    phlebotomy, order entry, specimen collection,establishes chain of custody if applicable, and labels for deliveryto appropriate authority for testing.

    • Under thesupervision of a licensed personnel, distributes educationalinformation and instructions for patient care, diagnostics, andother appropriate treatments.
    • Coordinates telephoneand in-basket requests to refill prescription drug medications andreport test results in accordance with provider instructions;responds accordingly to other requests under a physician or otherlicensed provider's guidance.
    • Prepares and maintainsexamination/treatment rooms, including inventory of supplies andequipment.
    • Practices Standard Precautions, includinghandwashing and disposal of bio-hazardous materials; complies withestablished risk management, HIPAA, and safety procedures.
    • Attends required meetings, in-services, andparticipates in committees as required.
    • Assist withadministrative duties as needed, to include procedure schedulingand completion of medical and physical history forms and otherrelated information requested by third party payors.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications:

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONREQUIRED:


    High School diploma or GED required.

    Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program accreditedthrough the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health EducationPrograms (CAAHEP); or the Accrediting Bureau of Health EducationSchools (ABHES); or similarly recognized accrediting organizationor completion of a Nursing Assistant program isrequired.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:


    None.

    MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BYLAW:


    None

    ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:


    BLS required. Certification fromthe American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or asimilarly recognized certifying organization required.
