    Description

    U.S. Citizens; Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) and Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP).

    Duties

    Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

    • Serves as a planning team member on multidisciplinary teams of professionals responsible for various park planning projects and studies.
    • Assists with project management planning phases by helping to develop project objectives, milestones, and timelines.
    • Maintains relationships between the park unit and state, local, and other federal agencies as well as various civic groups, environmental organizations, commercial development organizations, and interested individuals.
    • Drafts press releases in coordination with the public information office and prepares other information for public distribution regarding the planning process. Answers routine correspondence related to assigned planning projects.
    • Gathers, analyzes, and interprets information and statistical data for inclusion in larger reports or plans.
    • Contributes to project agreements and project charters for review and approval by supervisor or project manager.

    Requirements

    • U.S. Citizenship required.
    • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
    • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
    • Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
    • You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
    • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
    • You will be required to complete a one-year trial period.
    • You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 5 nights per month.
    • You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
    • You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
    • You must be at least 18 years old or have completed specific education requirements.

    Qualifications

    All qualifications must be met by the closing date unless otherwise stated.

    Experience:
    I possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that demonstrated the ability to plan and coordinate the use of land, water, and related resources for recreation and conservation purposes.
    -OR-
    Education:I have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Major study must be outdoor recreation planning or a related field such as sociology, forestry, landscape architecture, economics, biological science, park administration, earth science, natural resource management and conservation, civil engineering, urban planning, or recreation.

    Volunteer Experience:Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills that can provide valuable training and experience translating directly to paid employment.

    Education

    To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official. If selected, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

    If you are using education to meet qualifications, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
